Megan Stout is a new freelance artist in the St Louis area. She is a highly experienced orchestral and chamber musician and has performed for numerous weddings and special events.
Megan began her studies at the age of nine in Philadelphia, where she studied with the principal harpist of the Philadelphia Orchestra, Elizabeth Hainen. She continued her musical education and graduated from the famous harp department at Indiana University, under the tutelage of Professor Susann McDonald, with both a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in Harp Performance. This department draws many talented harpists and has the distinction of being the largest harp studio in the world. While she was at Indiana University she won several competitions such as the American String Teacher’s Association’s National Competition (Harp), and was a prizewinner twice in the National Society of Arts and Letters.
Megan has played regularly with such renowned symphonies as the Saint Louis Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony, and the Philadelphia Orchestra. Her summers are spent in beautiful Breckenridge, CO playing with The Breckenridge Music Festival, where she has been regularly featured as a soloist.
